From Resuscitation to Rehabilitation
University Hospital’s dedicated Trauma Resuscitation Unit is designed to meet your unique needs and your child’s needs separately. The unit is also designed for fast access by vehicle, ambulance or air medical service through a designated trauma entrance in the emergency department.
You may require intensive care in our Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) immediately upon admission or following resuscitation. Here our trauma-trained STICU physicians and nurses provide focused care and 24-hour observation thanks to the unit’s advanced monitoring technology.
From Rehabilitation to Recovery
As your recovery progresses, you might start inpatient rehabilitation. University Health has partnered with PAM Health to offer inpatient rehabilitation at three hospitals across San Antonio. Trained therapists are ready to assist in your recovery with physical, speech and respiratory therapy, as well as occupational and recreational therapy.
To check the progress of your recovery after you leave the hospital, our caring staff provides trauma follow-up care, as well as outpatient rehabilitation in facilities around San Antonio. We treat patients in need of rehabilitation for acute or prolonged physical disabilities or deficits.
