University Health's Reeves Inpatient Rehabilitation

Reeves Inpatient Rehabilitation is a certified rehabilitation unit located inside University Hospital. We use a team approach to provide patient-centered care with a focus on meeting goals and realizing their optimal potential. Our team is motivated by a shared mission and vision and operate in a collaborative environment.

Specialized Treatment Options

  • EksoNR™ robotic walking device for neurological disorders, including spinal cord and stroke rehabilitation
  • Equipment to enhance therapeutic regimen:
    • Erigo™ tilt table with functional electrical stimulation to legs
    • Bioness™ for improved mobility of the arms
    • Bodyweight supported treadmill training for safe ambulation
  • Therapy groups: cooking group and community outings offered to enhance therapeutic outcomes
  • Weekend therapies as indicated
  • Intensive family training with therapy and nursing teams to prepare for safe discharge
  • Transitional living apartment for overnight stays with families to prepare for discharge

What to Expect

Our goal is to help our patients regain their maximum function after an accident, illness, surgery or injury. To provide the highest quality of inpatient and outpatient care, here's what you can expect:

  • Three hours of therapy, 5 days a week with physical, occupational and speech therapy (as indicated).
  • Therapy services provided between 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. daily with rest breaks for lunch and recovery counseling and discharge planning with care coordination team.
  • Nursing care, wound care, rehab counseling and discharge planning assistance with a care coordination team.
  • Updates after weekly team meetings to discuss your overall progress, goals and discharge planning.

Your Care Team

You can expect an interdisciplinary team working with you daily. Your team will consist of the following:

  • Physical, occupational and speech therapists will work with you to maximize your functional potential.
    • Physical therapy will focus on mobility, walking, stair training, balance and education to prepare you to go home.
    • Occupational therapy will focus on self-care tasks and education to promote your independence with managing your daily routines.
    • Speech language pathologist will focus on strategies for swallowing and memory to improve your ability to eat and overall understanding of ideas that matter to you.
    • Certified brain injury specialists on staff.
    • Certified kinesio taping practitioners on staff.
    • Parkinson's Disease certified clinicians on staff.
  • A rehabilitation nurse who will work with you and your family to manage your treatment plan.
  • A case manager will assist in making arrangements for equipment, medical care or other services that can enhance your return to independence.
  • Patient care technicians will provide consistency and continuity of your rehabilitation program between both the nursing and therapy care you receive.
  • A rehabilitation counselor can work with you to process your injuries and support you through your rehabilitation journey while also coordinating services for ongoing support in the community after discharge.
  • Pain management and rehabilitation physicians whose primary goal is to improve your movement ability and quality of life.

For immediate medical needs, you will have access to onsite acute medical care.

Through our partnership with PAM Health's inpatient rehabilitation program, more patients in our community can recover in a soothing environment designed to support healing. They receive progressively challenging therapy with the goal of returning home safely and rejoining the community.
