We offer the newest options in cardiovascular care, featuring South Texas’ first cardiovascular hybrid suites – two cardiac cath labs and operating rooms all in one — and lifesaving procedures such as TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement).

- The nation’s first Neonatal Nutrition and Bone Institute focusing on the nutrition, bone health and specialized testing in children.
- DXA scan – Bone density scanning, an enhanced form of an X-ray, used to measure the child’s bone loss.

Premier Trauma Center
University Health is the premier Level I trauma center in South Texas, with a 128-slice CT scanner, laboratory and X-ray for fast and accurate diagnosis of injuries.
Surgical Advances
The integrated operating rooms in University Hospital and the Women's & Children's Hospital are equipped with a level of technology unmatched anywhere in the region. High-resolution video displays and touch-screen controls, so that surgical teams can examine X-rays on a large, wall-mounted monitor, read lab results on a smaller, boom-mounted screen and have hands-free conversations with specialists on another floor.

- Two hybrid operating rooms with enhanced capabilities to allow endovascular procedures and traditional open surgeries – all in the same room.

Rehabilitation Advancements
Therapists at our Reeves Rehabilitation Center are specially trained to offer patients with lower extremity weakness or paralysis a new way to stand up and walk.
University Health is the first and only facility in San Antonio equipped with the EKSO exoskeleton – a wearable bionic suit with adjustable, battery-powered motors that drive the legs and facilitate neuromuscular walking function.
