A visit to the Children’s Center at Texas Diabetes Institute is the first step toward building a healthier life for your child. Here, you will meet your team of experts whose goal is to care for your child. There is no better place in San Antonio to visit for your child’s diabetes or hormonal condition.

What to Expect During Your First Appointment
Your pediatric endocrinologist may order some tests to determine if your child has diabetes or a hormonal condition.
If the test results show that your child has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, your child’s endocrinologist will explain what this means. They will describe how your child’s life may change and what you can do to keep them healthy. Your child’s doctor will go over educational materials, with definitions and explanations of all the new terminology you will hear at the doctor’s visit.
After the first visit, you’ll have a good knowledge about your condition, treatment, diet and devices that will help monitor your child’s glucose levels.
Educational Materials
You will likely go home with a stack of educational materials about diabetes. We provide written materials of everything you’ll hear at your doctor’s visit, so you can refer back if needed. We’ll also go over the different resources TDI has to offer.
