Programa CareforMom
El Programa CareforMom cubre servicios médicos para mujeres que han dado a luz en University Health. CareLink inscribe automáticamente a las madres sin ninguna obligación financiera y emite una tarjeta de miembro de CareforMom. La membresía comienza el día después de que nazca su bebé y dura 12 meses.
Requisitos de CareforMom
- Las afiliadas deben ser residentes del condado de Bexar en el momento del parto.
- Deben tener Medicaid para el embarazo o CHIP Perinate en el momento del parto.
Servicios de CareforMom

Frequently Asked Questions
After CareforMom membership expires, are members eligible again if they have another child? What about same year delivery?
Yes. As long as the member meets the criteria.
Are breast pumps covered?
Breast pumps will not be covered by the CareforMom Program. Breast pumps will be covered by Medicaid for mothers or baby.
Is pre-authorization required for home health services?
Yes, pre-authorization is required for home health services, same as CareLink.
What about moms who don't want to be in the program?
It is important to educate them about the program, explaining that there is no financial obligation and only benefits to being in the program.
What about moms with no funding at delivery who apply for emergency Medicaid or didn't apply for Medicaid in time?
They will not qualify for the program and must have coverage at the time of delivery.
What happens if one of our Mommies patients delivers at another hospital, but was under our prenatal care?
They would not be identified and auto-enrolled, but they could apply for CareLink.
Who is paying for the services if the moms don’t have to?
The services will be paid for by the CareLink fund.
Will a coverage code be loaded into Epic, and if so, what will be?
Yes, the coverage code loaded into Epic will be “CareLink Care For Mom."
Will abdominal binders and compression stockings be covered?
Yes, compression stockings and abdominal binders are covered. They are available through Materials Management.
Will the membership be terminated if the patient gets other funding?
No, the membership will not be terminated. The CareforMom program will act as secondary coverage.
Will the program cover moms who have stillborn babies?
Yes.
Will the tubal ligation procedure be covered by Care For Mom at the time of delivery?
No, the coverage will not start until the day after delivery.
Will you cover re-admissions for any complications after delivery?
If the re-admission is not covered by Medicaid or other funding, services within University Health will be covered.
