Community Hospitals
University Health Palo Alto Hospital
Right next door to Vida, a new state-of-the-art facility, University Health Palo Alto Hospital, broke ground on January 18, 2024. It will include a 24/7 emergency department and labor & delivery unit, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, a neonatal intensive care unit/nursery, and inpatient units. The hospital will open in 2027 with 167 beds. Thanks to construction cost savings, an additional 60 beds will be added in 2028, bringing the total to 227 beds. The hospital is designed to expand to 286 beds as this area continues to grow. To make it even more convenient for patients, a connected 100,000-square-foot medical office building will offer appointments for a wide range of medical and surgical specialists.

University Health Babcock Campus
We are expanding our footprint in the South Texas Medical Center with our University Health Babcock Campus. This 4-story, 236,000-square-foot acute care hospital will include two medical buildings housing multi-specialty services.
Babcock Campus was acquired in 2025 and is expected to open in the Winter of 2026. This campus will help support the next phase of our growth, delivering more care, more services and greater access for patients across San Antonio and South Texas.
University Health Vida
University Health Vida is the first building to open on University Health’s 68-acre Palo Alto Campus at the intersection of South Zarzamora and Jaguar Parkway. This health center was partially funded with American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds allocated by the Bexar County Commissioners Court in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction began on December 13, 2023, and officially opened on November 17, 2025.
