The Board of Managers is responsible for the overall governance of the Bexar County Hospital District dba University Health, as described under the provisions of Chapter 281 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, and delegated by the Bexar County Commissioners Court, including:

• Setting goals and performance expectations
• Assuring appropriate policies, procedures and systems are in place
• Approving certain contracts and procurement activities in accordance with organizational policies
• Hiring and evaluating the president/CEO
