Allison Hays Lane's Impact at University Health

Aliison HaysThroughout history, art has served as a vital means of communication, spanning centuries and cultures, from ancient masterpieces and indigenous creations to modern designs appearing in public spaces worldwide. This communicative power of art extends far beyond mere expression; it also pays a crucial role in healing.

Visionaries in the art world and dedicated supporters like Allison Hays Lane, executive art curator at University Health, continue this tradition, enhancing their community with healing environments with dedication and passion.

In 2004, Allison founded her own art consultancy, the Olana Group, to provide art services and curate collections. Four years later, University Health invited her to lead and establish the SaludArte: Art of Healing Program, which features an art collection that includes 5,500 pieces and is valued at nearly $10 million.

Hospital and doctor visits are often stressful for patients and their families. However, at University Health, with the help of Allison’s creative efforts, the embedded art program has helped transform the environment and improve the experience for patients, team members and visitors.

At 63 years old, Allison reflects on her legacy and the impact she wants to leave behind for her kids and her profession. As she nears the end of her 40-year career, she has made it her mission to provide continued support for the future of SaludArte through University Health Foundation, with a planned legacy gift.

“I really credit the legacy gift to my parents and grandparents. They instilled in me the importance of giving back and being a servant leader,” Allison said.

Philanthropy has always been a tradition in Allison’s family. However, after witnessing the profound impact the Foundation has played on a program she feels so close to, she truly embraces an altruistic mindset. For her, giving comes from the heart, and she has a true passion for this cause.

She hopes that her legacy gift through University Health Foundation will continue to support and expand SaludArte, ensuring that future generations benefit from an environment enriched by art. She also hopes to inspire others to think ahead and recognize the transformative power of art in healing and community well-being.

“It’s so important for generations to think forward. You can’t change the past, but you can certainly impact the future,” Allison said.
