We offer outpatient behavioral health services for adults whose primary care provider is with University Health, in addition to hospital-based treatments for acute mental health conditions.
With outpatient care, you will meet with your doctor for regular appointments. At University Health, we provide comprehensive evaluations to find the source of your condition.
Mental and Physical Health Evaluation
We will start with a psychiatric evaluation. During a psychiatric evaluation, your doctor may ask:
- About your behavior and what triggers you
- About your symptoms
- How your mental condition affects work, school and relationships
- For your complete health history
An evaluation may also include blood tests and brain imaging.
We recommend the right medications that work for you and make adjustments as you need them. We also offer "talk" therapy and can help connect you with additional resources in the community.
Treating a Behavioral Health Condition
Depending on the nature of your condition, your doctor may recommend behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy or a combination of methods.
- Cognitive behavioral therapy involves making an effort to change the way you think in order to manage your behavioral condition.
- Medication to manage your symptoms, especially when there is a chemical imbalance in your brain causing the condition.
We understand that treating your mental health condition can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. Your team of specialists is there to help you each step of the way on your path to recovery. Please don’t hesitate to call us when you have questions about your treatment plan.
