Pediatric Eye and Vision Treatment
We work closely with these specialists to treat your child:
- Pediatricians
- Neurologists
- Geneticists
- Rheumatologists
We urge parents to get their children’s eye conditions treated as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent vision loss. Children can develop lazy eye if problems aren’t diagnosed and treated promptly.
Eye Conditions That May Need Surgery
Some eye conditions may need surgery. We’ll sit down with you and your child to discuss what will happen during the procedure. For specialized surgeries, our pediatric eye doctors work with other specialists at UT Health San Antonio.
They could include:
- Glaucoma specialists
- Cornea specialists
- Oculoplastic specialists
- Retina specialists
Some of the eye conditions that may need surgery include:
- Eye muscle problems
- Cataracts
- Blocked tear ducts
We encourage parents and older children to be involved in the decision-making process. We always strive to do what is in the best interests of our young patients and their parents—including effective treatments for every lifestyle.
