Diagnosing Kidney Conditions
Expect your kidney doctor to review your child’s medical history and perform a physical exam at the first appointment. Your child may have some tests to help diagnose their condition. Same-day or scheduled tests may include:
- Height and weight measurements
- Blood pressure reading
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
- Urine test
- Blood test
- Imaging tests
- Kidney ultrasound
- Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG)
- Kidney nuclear scan
- CT or MRI scans of the kidneys
- Kidney biopsy
