We’re making it easier than ever to donate blood by hitting the road with our first mobile donor bus
This Friday employees at Toyota Texas will become the first to board our new University Health mobile donor bus, roll up their sleeves and help save lives by giving blood.
University Hospital, with its Level I trauma center, is the largest user of blood in the San Antonio area. We are equipped to treat the most severely injured patients and stand ready to respond to regional emergencies. We also require a steady and ample blood supply for medical procedures throughout our network of hospitals and clinics. While we have a strong relationship with the regional blood bank, we could not serve the needs of our patients without volunteers who give through our own Blood Donor Services.
We are grateful to Toyota Texas for joining with University Health Foundation to launch our first-ever mobile blood donation center.
We have previously collected donor blood at University Hospital and through indoor events. The mobile bus allows us to increase donations by including community organizations that do not have large interior areas for staging blood drives or convenient access to one of the other locations.
Please join us in celebrating this milestone for University Health and Bexar County and help us thank Toyota and its employees for their contributions to this life-saving mission. Toyota and University Health leaders will tell you why this effort will have such a positive impact in our community.
