University Health and UnitedHealthcare reach multiyear agreement
Just in time for Medicare open enrollment, and the end-of-year enrollment period for many commercial health insurance plans, University Health and UnitedHealthcare have announced a renewal of their relationship.
The new, three-year contract ensures people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare commercial plans have continued network access to high quality hospital care at University Hospital, home to South Texas’ leading Level I Trauma Center. Services include a comprehensive stroke center, the highest-level maternal health and neonatal care centers, outpatient preventive healthcare services and urgent care. Primary and specialty care is provided by University Medicine Associates’ physicians and advanced practice providers at more than two dozen University Health clinical care locations and mobile health clinics.
“Because University Health cares for the residents of Bexar County and receives referrals from other facilities and physicians across the state, the new agreement provides over 4 million Texas residents covered by UnitedHealthcare access to our nationally-recognized teaching hospital and network of outpatient healthcare centers,” said Kevin Barron, executive director of Managed Care Contracting & Payer Relations at University Health.
“We look forward to collaborating with UnitedHealthcare to improve the good health of the community through high quality compassionate patient care, innovation, education and discovery,” Barron said.
