University Health earns Best Maternity Hospital distinction from Newsweek
Newsweek has ranked University Health as one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals in 2022, the only hospital in San Antonio ranked by Newsweek as well as only one of 7 in the entire state with the highest possible five-ribbon ranking.
“This distinction results from our staff’s tireless commitment to the health and wellbeing of women and children in Bexar County and South Texas,” said Irene Sandate, University Health vice president and associate chief nursing officer for women and children.
Newsweek and data firm Statista evaluated hospitals based on three data sources – a nationwide survey of hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals; performance data relevant to maternity care; and patient satisfaction.
Our Level IV Maternal Facility and ambulatory teams offer the highest level of comprehensive care to support moms during their pregnancy and every step of the way through birth and the postpartum period. If an infant needs specialized care, experts in our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are available to care for our smallest patients with knowledge and compassion.
Supporting parents, their babies and the whole family promotes patient satisfaction, family health and the health of the community as a whole. Our commitment to this core value is why we are opening the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital next year. The new facility and its thoughtful amenities will help us continue to expand services and provide greater access to the best health care for women and children in the region.
