Affiliation Agreements
University Health is proud of our established affiliation agreements with education partners from all over Texas and beyond. A current agreement needs to be in place prior to approving any student in a clinical rotation.
If you are planning on completing a clinical rotation(s) at University Health, it is important that BEFORE you enroll with your education institution, verify your school has a current agreement in place. This can be verified by checking current listing. If your college/university/program isn’t on the list, email Student.Placement@uhtx.com.
Establishing an Affiliation Agreement
From start to end, it takes an average of 6-8 weeks to establish an affiliation agreement. This varies greatly and depends on factors such as whether a school requests changes to the standard University Health agreement or whether a school is comfortable exchanging documents by email. The process is rigorous and not all schools successfully meet the criteria.
Criteria for Schools Requesting an Affiliation Agreement
Before requesting to establish an agreement, please review our criteria.
To be considered for approval, the request must meet all of the following:
- School is not-for-profit (public and private)
- School is physically based in Texas
- Request is for more than one student at this time
To clarify, requests with any of the following attributes do not meet our criteria:
- School is proprietary (for-profit)
- School is not physically based in Texas
- Seeking to establish an agreement for one student
To request an affiliation agreement, please email Student.Placement@uhtx.com.
Exception to Requesting an Affiliation Agreement – Shortage of Student Type
Sometimes there are instances when our current education partners do not provide the types or quantities of students needed to maintain a healthy recruiting pool. University Health will approve a request if the appropriate director emails us to ask that we make an exception to our criteria.
The director must be the University Health employee overseeing the area in which the student(s) would be completing their rotation. The director should email request to Student.Placement@uhtx.com.
