About
Soy profesor y vicepresidente del Departamento de Urología de UT Health San Antonio, donde dirijo la División de Urología Femenina, Neuro-urología y Disfunciones Miccionales.
Terminé mis estudios de pregrado en la Universidad de Brandeis en 1987 y obtuve mi título de médico en la Facultad de Medicina Robert Wood Johnson de la UMDNJ-Rutgers en 1991, donde también completé mi residencia en urología. Realicé una beca de investigación en neurourología, incontinencia y urodinámica en el Baylor College of Medicine de Houston y obtuve mi Maestría en Ciencias en Investigación Clínica en UT Health San Antonio.
En junio de 2013 obtuve mi certificación de subespecialidad en Medicina Pélvica Femenina y Cirugía Reconstructiva (FPMRS) de la Junta Americana de Urología. Más recientemente, en 2020, obtuve mi Maestría en Administración de Empresas MBA con enfoque en el sector de la salud en la Facultad de Negocios de la Universidad de Texas en San Antonio y actualmente me desempeño como directora médica hospitalaria sénior de Calidad y Seguridad.
Como miembro del Colegio Americano de Cirujanos, también formo parte de la Asociación Americana de Urología, la Sociedad Americana de Uroginecología, la Sociedad Internacional de Continencia y la Sociedad de Urodinámica, Medicina Pélvica Femenina y Reconstrucción Urogenital (SUFU). Formo parte de la Junta Directiva de la SUFU y de la Sociedad de Urología de Texas, donde también me desempeño como presidente de los comités de educación de ambas organizaciones.
Intereses de investigación:
He sido profesor en numerosos cursos de posgrado sobre temas que incluyen la neurourología, la urología femenina, la vejiga hiperactiva, la incontinencia masculina, los trastornos de la micción y la urodinámica. Formé parte del Panel de Directrices de la AUA sobre urodinámica y del Panel de Directrices de la AUA sobre la incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo femenina. Soy copresidente del Panel de Pautas de la AUA sobre la disfunción neurogénica del tracto urinario inferior y dirijo el Proyecto de Ruta de Atención Clínica para la Vejiga Hiperactiva OAB de la SUFU.
Participo activamente en la investigación y he sido investigador principal en diversos estudios y proyectos de financiamiento, entre ellos la Red de Tratamiento de la Incontinencia Urinaria, patrocinada por los NIH/NIDDK. Además de formar parte del consejo editorial de *Drugs & Aging* y *BMC Urology*, soy revisor de *Journal of Urology*, *Urology* y *Neurourology & Urodynamics*.
Mi práctica clínica se centra principalmente en la incontinencia urinaria, la vejiga hiperactiva, la vejiga neurogénica y los trastornos complejos de la micción.
