University Hospital recognized for excellence in stroke care with 2024 national award
For another consecutive year, the American Heart Association has awarded University Health the Get With The Guidelines® Gold Plus Award, which recognizes our unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality care for patients experiencing cardiovascular and stroke conditions.
“This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire multidisciplinary stroke team--and we love what we do,” said Jeanette Figueroa, coordinator for the Comprehensive Stroke Center at University Health.
High quality stroke care
University Health is a comprehensive stroke center. This means we are capable of treating the most complex stroke patients. Time is critical when a patient experiences stroke symptoms. Our team is ready 24/7 to provide specialized care for stroke conditions because we know personalized care and advanced treatments can effect a patient’s outcome and quality of life.
“Our stroke team is committed to diagnosing and treating the most complex stroke patients with the latest technology and procedures,” said Figueroa.
With our partners at UT Health San Antonio, patients have access to the most advanced, immediate care you need when you or a loved one has symptoms of a stroke.
Get With The Guidelines® Gold Plus Award
The American Heart Association developed the Get With The Guidelines® program to promote a rigorous adherence to protocols that enhance care at every stage of treatment, from evaluation through recovery. Hospitals undergo comprehensive evaluations to ensure they meet the stringent criteria necessary for this national recognition.
The 2024 Get With The Guidelines® program also recognized University Health with honor rolls for stroke and diabetes. The American Diabetes Association reports that people with diabetes are twice as likely to suffer from cardiovascular conditions or a stroke.
